School of Persian Medicine (SPM)
TUMS’ School of Persian Medicine was established in 2007, as a result of an increasing national interest and need in traditional, alternative, and complementary medical services. This school, as the oldest and most distinguished school of traditional medicine in Iran, is the postgraduate academic center for educating talented students at Ph.D. level in traditional medicine and pharmacy of traditional medicine.
STPM intends to develop, both academically and practically, Iranian traditional medicine at home and around the world. To this end, the school’s curriculum provides the students with an opportunity to promote their skills both in theory and practice in different fields of clinical traditional medicine as well as nutrition, materia medica, and pharmacy. The curriculum is designed with an approach to filling the gap between university and industry in the field of herbal medicine and traditional medicine.
This school admits applicants with an M.D. or a Phar.D. degree into Ph.D. programs. The specific objectives of this school are for students to gain an understanding of how to combine traditional medicine with current medicine, and to become broad-minded and ethical specialists. During your study here, you can gain high-level experience in both fields of clinical practice and research.
